Forty five primary school kapa haka from 16 regions across Aotearoa will compete for national honours at Te Mana Kuratahi Kapa Haka 2023, to be held in Nelson and broadcast live to MĀORI+ and Te Reo Channel from 30 October to 3 November.
As the ‘Home of Haka, Whakaata Māori is proud to broadcast this national event. The passion for kapa haka in tamariki often starts early, in kohanga and kura tuatahi, making this one of the biggest calendar events of the year for them.
Whakaata Māori is committed to the revitalisation of reo Māori me onā tikanga as seen through Māori performing arts. Rōpū will have spent many hours practising and being supported by whānau and tutors in the lead up to this significant event.
