The Super 8 Rugby competition begins this weekend with two games scheduled for Saturday 25 May at 12.00 PM.
Both games will be live streamed on the Whakaata Māori rangatahi sports YouTube channel, MĀORI ACTIVE at 12.00 PM and available on MĀORI+.
New Plymouth Boys High School have home team advantage when they take on Hastings Boys High School at 12.00 PM
Palmerston North BHS have home team advantage against Gisborne Boys in their game, also starting at 12.00 PM
The Super 8 schools are Hamilton Boys' High School, Palmerston North Boys' High School, Tauranga Boys' College, New Plymouth Boys' High School, Rotorua Boys High School, Napier Boys High School, Hastings Boys High School, and Gisborne Boys High School.
The Super 8 schools are a group of eight highly competitive secondary schools located in the central North Island that compete against each other in a range of events. These schools are known for their outstanding sports teams, and cultural activities.
The Super 8 competition is one of many sports being broadcast as part of the NZSC initiative, aimed at promoting secondary school sports and providing schools with funding to further develop young athletes across a wide variety of sports. It is spearheaded by former Olympic rower and ex-Team NZ member Rob Waddell.
Māori Active is the YouTube Channel established by Whakaata Māori to host NZSC sports and cultural events.
